About Me

I'm Erin.

Unknown Blackbird is my journal, in images and words, to record the everyday and the once-in-a-lifetime.

I just moved back to the midwest in April of 2015 with my husband, daughter and cat after two years in Seattle, Washington. We now call a big 1923 tudor in Toledo, Ohio home.

I am an archaeologist by education. I love history, old buildings and old objects. I temporarily retired from my career in cultural resource management after having my little girl, Ida in August of 2014. She is now my full time job. Restoring our house to an approximation of its 1923 splendor and redecorating it so that it is not the epitome of 1988 splendor is my part time job. I am also the proprietor of Unknown Blackbird, a vintage shop on Etsy.

I am aesthetically driven. Interior designing and gardening are my favorite things. But not just the glossy surface, I like to get my hands dirty. I am obsessed with good food and drink. Since becoming a mother, the health and well-being of all women is something I have become very passionate about. I love to travel, but I always want to have a place to call home. And I am constantly thrilled by the beauty of the natural world at all scales.
